Accurate and handy, the Henry Single Shot Slug Barrel Shotgun is the elegant solution to hunting deer in shotgun-only areas. Utilizing the same familiar break-action as Henry’s other single-shot shotguns, the barrel is fully rifled with a 1:35 twist rate to bring sabot and Brenneke slugs right on target. Aiming is easy under any lighting conditions with red fiber optic light pipe in the fully adjustable rear notch, and bright green fiber optic front sight post. For longer-range hits, this gun is drilled and tapped for a Weaver optic mount.
This Slug Barrel model features a rebounding external hammer and dual-direction pivoting locking lever mechanism that blocks hammer contact with the firing pin unless the trigger’s pulled. For safety, the same interlock system keeps the action from opening or closing with the hammer cocked. This shotgun is drop-safe without an external manual safety.
The stock and forend are checkered American walnut, already equipped with sling swivel studs. A solid rubber recoil pad moderates felt recoil, as does the option of using a “hasty” sling wrapped around the support arm.
The weight is light enough for field carry but solid enough to avoid snappy recoil and the 24-inch round barrel makes the most of slug internal ballistics. This Slug Barrel Shotgun is made to the same exacting standards as Henry’s repeaters for a lifetime of hard service and accurate shooting. The simple operation of the reliable break-action, the nostalgia and the self-challenge of taking game cleanly with a single shot rifled shotgun, all add up to an enjoyable experience and solid performance.
