This standard blank front sight comes with a large, smooth, square blade that is .300″ tall x .125″ wide so that it can be modified to the shooters preference and requirements. Unlike Kensight item# 870-914 that comes unfinished or “in-the-white”, this sight has a black oxide finish so that only some touch-up’s are necessary after the blade has been cut.
The flat base blends in nicely with most square top slide profiles, resulting in a clean looking installation that may require la small amount of filing to accomplish. Flat base front are also found to be easier to install when tapping, as there is an edge on each side for your brass to strike. This sight is made to fit the common Novak type front sight cuts (.330″ wide x .073″ deep x 65°) as typically found on both customized and factory 1911 pistols.
Requires fitting and installation by a qualified gunsmith.

Features
- Generally, all installations will require machining. Exception will be if the firearm already has Novak sights. Some Kimber, Springfield and H&K pistols have been factory-equipped with Novak sights.
- Sights are made to fit Novak dovetail. Slide will require milling if not already set up for dovetail front sights. If changing from Millett dual crimp front sights, the holes in the slide will have to be filled or they will show after machining for Novak front.
