The Pedersoli Richmond 1862 Type III Rifle is a reproduction of one of the most popular rifles used during the American Civil War. The original rifle was produced using equipment and machines from the Harper’s Ferry Arsenal that was transferred to the Confederate Capitol of Richmond. The Richmond Type III was manufactured based on the U.S. Model of 1855 with the Maynard tape igniting system. It is for this reason that the lock features that overhang on the upper side. After some time, and because there was not much need for the special lock, it was lowered to simplify the manufacturing.
